Clare Elaine Derby left us suddenly on December 13, 2014, at the age of 87. Clare was born in Grenfell, Saskatchewan on January 8, 1927 to Mary and John Parsons. She leaves to mourn her, four children who meant the world to her; June, Northside, Sask., Allan (Morag) Lantzville, B.C., Dale (Kelly) Grenfell Sask., Myles(Pam) Regina, Sask. ; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren as well as brothers, Byron (Doreen) and Doug (Lynn) and sister Kathy (Glen).
She was pre-deceased by her husband of 57 years Howard Whitefield Derby and her brother Elgin, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Carol and Edwin Popplewell.
Clare will be remembered most as “parts person”, working alongside her husband in both Derby Farm Equipment and Derby Transport. Clare loved her garden and flowers, and her commitment with the genealogy society, and her time spent making her greeting cards and with the Grenfell Art Club. Her quiet demeanour and kindness was shared by everyone who came into contact with her. Clare also enjoyed the Faith and fellowship of her church and the many, many friends she met through it. Clare’s love for her family was unconditional and nothing made her happier than when she was surrounded by them.
The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude for all the prayers and kindness extended towards them at this time.
A remembrance of her life will be shared with her family and friends at the Grenfell Community Hall Friday, December 19, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. A private family interment service will be held at Weldon Holy Trinity Church Cemetery.
