

It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Darlene Taypotat—wife, mother, Kokum, aunt, friend—who joined the Creator to become an angel in heaven on January 2, 2018 at the age of 64.
Survived by loving husband Joseph ‘Shep’ Taypotat; Brother-in-law and Sister-in-law Louis and Bernice Taypotat; Sons: Kevin (Gaylene), Allan (Monica), Patrick (Stacy), Daughters: Tanya (Melvin), Cecilia (Gary), Nancy (Tyler), Adopted sons – Patrick (Shelley) Dubois, Ross (Tania) McKay, Jared (Lynnette) Louison, Bill (Tillie) Desnomie, Adopted Daughters: Cheryl (Glenn) Alexson, Ramona (Robin) Alexson; Sisters: Stella Klassen and Keitha Wabash; Adopted Brothers – Alvin Louison; Special friend Alice Sangwais; Grandchildren: Joel, Katelyn, Benjamin, Shayna, Sheena, Sanchel, Shacal, Straitr, Tayvin, Cassidy, Kamilie, Nevaeh, Krislynn, Dashell, Deshy, Logan, Dallas, Konway plus numerous other grandchildren, relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
Predeceased by her parents: Roderick Bone and Rose Mecas of Waywayseecappo, Manitoba; Brothers: Eric Mecas, Andy Mecas, Albert Mecas, Joseph ‘Bert’ Ledoux and baby brother Patrick Mecas.
A Wake will be held at Kahkewistahaw Complex, Kahkewistahaw First Nation on Sunday, January 7, 2018; funeral on Monday, January 8, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Winston Bear.
Darlene’s family meant the world to her; she always talked about her children and grandchildren. She shared her husband’s passion for the cowboy way of life and proudly owned her own horses. Anyone who knew her, know of her love for Bingo. She attended all the bingos nearby and was bingo manager for many many years. She was a true community member, attending and enjoying all the community events – festivals, fiddle dances, rounddances, rodeos, pow wows, meals, etc. Her presence will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
