Delbert Peter George

Delbert was predeceased by his grandparents: Edna and Moses Sangwais, Oliver Sparvier and Jean Thomas; father Peter Sangwais; brothers Chad and Terrence George; sister Pamela George; uncles: Maxwell, Albert, Blair Sangwais and Alvin Bunnie; aunts: Valeria Sangwais, Doreen George, Norma George, Zilda Peigan and Elaine; and grandchild Leslie Peepeetch; moosums George, Clifford, Earnest Sangwais and kokums Kathleen and Marietta Sangwais.

Delbert is survived by his partner Josephine Tanner; mother Ina George; daughters Aaliyah PC and Del Regan George; step children:Leigha, Kayla, Arianna,Tyrell, Tanis and Jasper; the mother of his children Audrey Kequahtooway; sisters Denise (Adam) Peepeetch and Jennifer (Orval) George; special nieces Dominique and Chelsey (Marlon) uncles: Lloyd, Loren (Genevieve) Sangwais and Adam Peepeetch; a special uncle Randy (Denise) Sangwais; aunts: Carol (Brian), Connie Sangwais, Sharon Kaye and Cindy Bunnie; kokum Alice Sangwais; his nephews: Quinton, Isaiah, Adam-Jr (Savannah), Ashton (Vara) and Ryan; nieces: Jacqueline, Torey, Kaylyn, Chekesha, Taryn, Kaydense, Shayla (Kendall), Shayleen, Elissa-Jade (Chris) and Tianna-Lee (Brogan); grandchildren: Katin, Marlon Jr, Skyla, Markell, Marley, Amarah, Margo, Marko, Mateo, Noah, Isabel, Crystal, Zeke, Octavia, Christina, Isaak, Payton, Blake, Jimmy, Christopher Jr, Kingsley, Knightleigh, Lincoln, Chance, Athena, Tayon, Kelayla, Demarcus; great grandchildren Princess and Lyndon and many more grandchildren and relatives that are too many to name. Delbert is also survived by special cousins: Sheila Acoose, Yvette Strongeagle, Allen Sangwais, Gavin Isaac, Ryan Isaac and Delayne Sangwais.

Chico was the baby of our family and he will be missed dearly for his bubbly presence, outgoing personality and his kind heart. He was always there to lend a hand and would go above and beyond to help anyone in need. To his family he was the heart and centre of every gathering. To his grandchildren he was a source of laughter and fun. He had an infectious energy and brought so much joy and love to everyone he met.

The wake will be held in the Zagime Community Complex, Zagime Anishinabek, Monday, March 31, 2025 commencing at 4:00 p.m. There will be a feast on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. with the funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m. with Elders Alan Delorme and Sam Isaac officiating. The pallbearers will be Adam Jr. Peepeetch, Marlon Sangwais, Isaiah George, Markell Sangwais, Marlon Jr. Sangwais and Katin George-Cyr. The interment will take place in the United Church Cemetery. The family requests that no children under 12 years of age are in attendance.
