December 6, 1931 – October 3, 2020
Edith “Doreen” Saulteaux Benninger went to her eternal rest with the Lord on October 3, 2020. There to greet Doreen were her parents Alex and Mabel; beloved Grandma Bella; her brothers: Ronald, Alvin and Arnold and her “sis” Helen and granddaughter Naomi.
Doreen worked as a nurse for many years in a variety of healthcare settings. She loved her work and was a valuable member of the hospital and nursing home staff. She especially loved children. She was very active donating her time in the inner city schools in Prince Albert. Doreen was an elder in the Prince Albert Lutheran Church. All the youth loved her! Doreen used her crochet talents to donate mitts and scarves to the school children and her family members. Doreen gave freely of her time to help others.
She had a special place in her heart for Alex, Booboo, Kotayh, Angel, Vincent, Michael and Jordan – seeing their pictures brought her many smiles. She was a well respected and loved elder and grandmother.
She will be deeply missed by her family, daughters Shirley and Sharon (Jim); son Derrick; grandchildren: Joshua, Mindy, Alexis, Shane, Alex and Jeremy; her brother Roswald (Jeannette) and sister Myrtle (Leroy) and cherished lifelong friend and family member Lena Runns.
A private service will be held in Tubman Funeral Home, Wolseley, SK. Due to Covid 19 restrictions there will be limited seating in the chapel. Interment will follow in South Cemetery, Carry The Kettle First Nation.
