Ed Miller

August 14, 1913 – November 17, 2012

It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of our father Ed at the age of 99 years. Dad passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 17, 2012. Ed was the second son of Karl and Dorthea Miller. Ed was lovingly married to Eveline Ruth Lutz on July 4, 1943. Dad will be remembered for his kindness, generosity and love of the simple things in life. During 40 plus years of farming, Dad and Mom enjoyed neighborhood trail rides and operating a vacation farm with a petting zoo. He was passionate about horses which he demonstrated in 1955 when he drove his prized team comprised of his horse Maggie beside a bull in the Lipton Parade. Dad also had a pair of steers trained to pull a wagon. Dad was a great teaser always with that twinkle in his eye. He was predeceased by the love of his life, Ruth (June 23, 2011) after 68 years of marriage; his parents Karl and Doretha; brothers Alfred and William. Ed is survived by his loving children: Duaine (Lorraine), Marlene (Bain), Glenn (Lois), Kevin (Sue), honorary son Larry Huber (Linda); his grandchildren: Jason, Shawna (Andrew), Tyler, Dylan, Colin (Kate), Ali, Sean, Trevor (Jill), Jennifer, Michael and Paul; his great grandchildren: Maria, Keyanna, Reese and Sophie; brother Emmanuel (Ruth), sisters-in-law: Annie Miller, Dorothy and Irene Lutz, brother-in-law Bill Lutz (Pat) and many nieces and cousins. The family would like to thank Dr. Lombard and the staff of Echo Lodge in Fort Qu’Appelle for their exceptional care and compassion shown to Dad during his stay. The funeral service will be held in Living Christ Lutheran Church, Lipton, SK. on Friday, November 23, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Donald A. Koch officiating. Interment will follow in Lipton Memorial Gardens where Ed will be laid to rest next to his wife Ruth. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Echo Lodge Nursing Home Memorial Fund, Box 1790, Fort Qu’Appelle, SK. S0G 1S0 as tokens of remembrance.
