With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful, at home, passing of Edna Lena Tholl on Monday, April 6, 2020, nine days short of her 80th birthday. She was predeceased by her husband Arnold and parents Ed and Lena La Rose. She is survived by her daughters Betty and Cathy, sons Ed and Jerome (Linda), her grandsons Matt and Cameron and her sister Loretta (Bill) Hassler. Edna is also survived by her uncles Lloyd (Dorothy) Seibold and Herb Seibold; sisters-in-law Evelyn (Herb) Schmidt and Maria Schram; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Edna was born on April 15, 1940 in Rosetown. As a young child, she moved with her parents to a farm in the Windthorst area, where she attended school, helped her parents on the farm, loved her little sister and developed her passion of animals. Following school, Edna treasured her time as a nurse’s aide at the Kipling Hospital, where some of her lifelong friendships began. In 1959, after a short courtship, she married the love of her life, Arnold Tholl, and settled in Windthorst. In 1963, they moved with their two young daughters to a nearby farm, where her family quickly grew to include two sons. During her 57 years on the farm, Edna was always busy sewing, cooking, gardening, farming, playing with and caring for her children and tirelessly keeping her family happy. As her children grew, she spent countless enjoyable hours in her yard making it beautiful. From 1981 to 2001, Edna had a variety of jobs in the community, including the Kipling Style Shop, Kipling grocery stores and the Peebles Coop. Edna had many precious friends with whom she shared wonderful life experiences such as card parties, dinner theatres, travelling and delightful visits. Edna’s great joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren. As a mom, Edna was loving, supportive and proud of all of her children. She cherished the relationships she had with them throughout her life. Her love expanded to include a daughter-in-law and, later, two grandchildren. Edna loved having her grandsons visit where she would spoil them with chocolate for breakfast and late, late nights up with grandma. Her family, neighbours and friends knew her as being loving, hardworking and generous. As one of her friends so perfectly stated, “If there were more Ednas in the world, it would be a kinder place.“ Edna wrote, “I want my family to remember me for loving them with all of my heart.” We will. Always. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. If you wish, in memory of Edna, please give a flower to a friend.
