Eva Lydia Gallinger

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Eva Lydia Gallinger (nee Benjamin) on January 7th, 2020. Eva passed away peacefully in her sleep in Wolseley Hospital, Wolseley, Saskatchewan.

She was born in Rosetown on June 27, 1938. Raised in the McGee/Rosetown area, Eva was one of 7 children. Eva was an energetic child and she described how often she found herself in trouble without even trying. Eva attended a number of schools in the Rosetown/Kindersley area and graduated with her commercial course from Kindersley High. After graduating Eva took up residence at the YWCA in Regina and worked for the Provincial Government. In 1958 she married her high school sweetheart Alvin Gallinger and they have spent the last 61 years together. They enjoyed a full and happy life together, raising four children and 11 grandchildren. Eva was a caregiver and happiest when she was with her family.

Eva is survived by her husband Alvin, by her siblings Jeanne Evans, George Benjamin (Linda), Barry Benjamin (Karin) and Larry Benjamin (Brenda), by her children Cindy Clarke (Barry), Deborah Rayment (Alfred), Michelle James (Mark) and Michael Gallinger (Trishannah), by her grandchildren Daniel (Bruce), Christopher (Jenn), Miranda (Dujung), Madeline (Brett), Natasha (Riley), Megan, Thomas, Marah, Kali (Jay), Josh (Taylor) and Eli, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Eva was predeceased by her infant daughter Leslie Ann, her father Ferdinand Benjamin, her mother Yvonne Benjamin, her brother Lawrence Benjamin, her sister Rita Kneller, brothers-in-law Dent Evans, Don Kneller, Arnold Gallinger, sister-in-law Vera Gallinger, daughter-in-law Cheryl Gallinger, grand-daughter Brier Rayment and nephew Gregg Peters.

A Celebration of Life will be held in her honour on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in the Grenfell Legion Hall, 713 Stella Street, Grenfell, SK. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Operation Smile Canada or a charity of your choice.
