It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gerald (Gerry) Dyke, a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, who left us peacefully on May 20, 2025 at the age of 83 years.
Gerry was born and raised in Oakshela, Saskatchewan, surrounded by the close-knit family that always remained central to his life. From an early age, Gerry discovered his love for the land, beginning his farming journey in childhood. After attending Oakshela School until Grade 9, he made the decision to dedicate himself fully to the farming life, a choice that reflected both his work ethic and deep connection to his roots.
In his youth, Gerry proudly served in the Army Reserves, where he gained valuable skills, lifelong discipline, and friendships that he cherished. His interest in machinery and hard work later led him to Heavy Duty Mechanics school in Edmonton, AB. However, true to his loyal nature, Gerry returned home when his father was injured, putting family before all else.
In 1963 Gerry met the love of his life and his forever girlfriend, Louise. Their bond was immediate and unwavering. They were married in 1965 and together built a life full of purpose, love and devotion. They welcomed their first son Kevin in 1967, daughter Trish in 1970 and another son Dave in 1972.
Louise and Gerry raised their children the way they themselves were raised, by instilling in them the values of hard work, loyalty, honesty and a deep love of family. Their son Dave took over the family’s Century Farm and now works alongside his own son, Dustin, who is proudly passing the same values on to his boys.
Gerry will be remembered for his quiet strength, his dedication to his family and farm and his genuine warmth he extended to everyone he met. His legacy lives on in the fields he tended, the stories he shared and the deep love he gave to those closest to him.
He is survived by his beloved wife Louise; children: Kevin (Bette), Trish (Gord) and Dave (Shannon) and his cherished 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
A public visitation will take place in Peace Lutheran Church, Grenfell, Saskatchewan, on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at 12:30 p.m. The funeral service will follow in Peace Lutheran Church at 2:00 p.m., with officiant Rev. D.J. Kim. The interment will be in the Oakshela Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gerry’s name to the Broadview and District Lions Club, Box 537, Broadview, SK., S0G 0K0.
