Veteran journalist Gerry Wade passed away in Wolseley Hospital on Thursday, March 19. Gerry was born in Leask, Saskatchewan where he was lucky enough to grow up with a great group of lifetime friends. He then enjoyed his career as a journalist working in print (Saskatoon Star-Phoenix and Regina Leader-Post) and radio (CBC Toronto and Calgary). His prairie boyhood stood him in good stead as he often reported on agricultural matters in the province and the country. He married Lois McTaggart in 1956 and they had one son, David. Gerry was predeceased by Lois and is survived by David (Joan), grandchildren Brett and Michele, his sister, Kathryn Wade, and several nephews and a niece. Gerry and Lois always enjoyed socializing with their friends wherever they were but particularly in Regina where they spent so many years. He was always up for golf, curling and his fall hunting trips with the boys. The family wishes to thank the staff at Lakeside Nursing Home in Wolseley for the care and attention they gave Gerry while he lived there. There will be no funeral; interment will be in the McKay family plot in the old Silvergrove church cemetery which is not far from Leask.
