

Gwen was born on the Fleming homestead (Cottage Home Farm) on September 16, 1919. She attended Westfield (just a quarter mile from the home farm) and Summerberry schools, completing her education at Balfour Technical School in Regina. In November 1943 she married Howard Jackson. After farming 2 years in the Qu’Appelle Valley, they moved to the Fleming homestead where they resided until 1972 when they moved into Wolseley. Gwen was an active member of the Westfield and Wolseley communities volunteering her time and talents whenever needed and a member of the United Church Women and Wolseley Lions (Lioness) clubs.
Family and friends meant everything to Mom and we spent many weekends and special occasions enjoying her wonderful home cooked meals. A devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother she will be missed by her daughter Donna (Ron) Braithwaite; son Terry (Janet); daughter Shelley Joubert; grandchildren: Stacey, Derek, Tamara, Anthony, Mark and Michelle; 16 great-grandchildren and sister-in-law Marion Fleming.
Gwen was predeceased by her husband Howard; parents Edward and Jessie Fleming; Howard’s parents Harry and Ethel Jackson; sister Loraine (Don) Hibbert; brother Rea Fleming; brother-in-law Les (Betty) Jackson and son-in-law Ray Joubert.
The family would like to thank the staff of Wolseley Lakeside Home for their wonderful care while Mom was a resident there and all her friends and family that came to visit with her.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Gwen’s memory may be made to Resident’s Activity Group, c/o Lakeside Nursing Home, Box 10, Wolseley, SK S0G 5H0.
At Mom’s request there will be no funeral service. Interment in Moffat Cemetery at a later date.
