It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Keith Allan David Langenberger. To the end he was holding hands with his loving wife Carol. Forty-three years side by side in the many adventure’s life brought them. Trucks and trailers, bikes, snowmobiles, sports cars and cruise ships took them far and wide with the one constant being they were together. These adventures afforded all of us that love him, to experience his sense of humour and good-natured ribbing. You were assured there would be a one liner dropped into a conversation to keep you on your toes.
Career paths took Keith and Carol to different parts of the province. This nurtured their love for traveling and camping. Keith owned no less than 6 motorcycles which took them on many adventures to Northern California, Vancouver Island to Lake of the Woods and everywhere in between. They spent many days on their sleds exploring the snowmobile trails in Northern Saskatchewan. Recently they started to get their monies worth on the RV trailer going all over the province in pursuit of some peace and quiet.
When spending time with family or friends, you could count on Keith being the amazing uncle to his many nieces and nephews. He would joke and cajole them. Lightening the mood, at the same time as providing them with encouragement, support and unconditional love they needed to grow up to the fine adults they are today. Lasting memories shared about how he could make you roll with humour while standing atop a ladder installing a light, or his genetic trait of quiet determination to fix things. He would provide sage advice on how to budget for home repairs that last years later. Keith loved woodworking and had many pieces of beautiful furniture. These pieces are scattered in BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan in the homes of friends and family. We know when you look at them you will remember the twinkle in his eye.
Keith was never one to pass up a bargain. He would research and find the most frugal way to accomplish something. If he was proofing this, we are certain he would have condensed this substantially, but we are blowing the budget!
Lives were touched in countless ways with the Department of Highways, SIAST, and other places he worked. He was at his core a teacher, having earned a Bachelor of Education while working full time. He was determined to provide a wonderful life for Carol and himself. He had a way of breaking down new concepts for people and helping them connect the dots. The student could be taking a class of his, a friend, a niece or a nephew. It didn’t matter he was always teaching and inspiring others. He demonstrating how hard work, determination and compassion would result in great achievements being met.
His talents were many. Through all of them you could see a strong work ethic and sense of pride in a job well done. Lessons Keith learned from Louis and Anne, his parents and other mentors he encountered in his life.
Keith and Carol were always a team. They were never far apart. He possessed a steadfast love and protection of Carol. His world revolved around her. It was mirrored in Carol’s steadfast love and protection for Keith. They lived fully and completely in the vows they took right to the last moments. They are an inspiration to all. To find a love like that in our lives is a goal we can all aspire to.
To say he will be missed would be an enormous understatement. The number of people that he touched is staggering. Many have shared their kind words and thoughts reminding us the 64 years he was amongst us were significant. He was loved.
