Lawrence Galbraith

September 2, 1949June 20, 2020

It is with broken hearts that we announce the death of Lawrence Dwain Galbraith (better known as Duke or Lorry), due to cancer, on Saturday, June 20, 2020.

He was predeceased by his parents Harold and Helen (Kemp). He is survived by his wife Lynda, son Kristopher (Colleen and son Bobby) and son Todd (Kristy and children Ryder, Peyton, and Britynn). He is also survived by brother Arnold Galbraith (Bev), sister Arlene Maki (Garth) and sister Donna Galbraith. He is also survived by 14 nieces and nephews.

He was born in Grenfell and raised on his family farm in the Broadview area. He and his brother took over the farm and he married and raised his sons on the same land he was raised on. In 2004, he and his brother sold the farm, retired from farming, and moved to town, though the love of the land and farming was never far from his heart.

Lorry loved sports. He was a Roughrider season ticket holder for years. He curled, played softball, hockey, and football, and coached his own sons hockey teams and assisted coaching high school football long after his sons left home. Lorry could often be found at his own grandchildren’s sporting events cheering from the sidelines.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful angels who were disguised as doctors, nurses, and health care workers in the Pasqua Hospital Palliative Care Unit. The compassion and dignity they showed was such a blessing.
