“The wheels came off” and our Mom “cashed in her coupons.” Maintaining her love and humour to the very last, Mom passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family. Being well prepared with a strong faith, she now joins the company of Heaven to be in the presence of God.
Leona Fiege (nee. Fritz) was born on October 27, 1923 and passed away on May 10, 2017 at the age of 93.
Leona is predeceased by her first husband, Carl; second husband, Ernest; parents, Jacob and Elizabeth; and siblings, Helen, William, Frank, Albert, George, Walter, Irene, and Donald.
Leona is survived by her siblings, Edna and Ken (Wilma); sister-in-law, Clara; her children, Donna (Gary), Nadine (Peter), Elton (Brenda), Darlene (Garth), and Ann (Ken); grandchildren, Carmen (Daryl), Kent, Scott (Tanya), Leif (Chantel), Kris (April), Heidi (Vallen), Curtis (Becky), Erin (Tyler), Kirk, Judson, Meghan (Neil), Simon, Angie (Randy), and Tara, as well as twenty-one great-grandchildren.
Leona married Carl Fiege on June 20, 1943. Leona and Carl farmed north of Patrick for many years. Farming was hard work but they always found time for a game of cards, a picnic at the lake, sharing a meal, dancing, or other fun with their family and friends.
Leona loved to keep busy with knitting, crocheting, cooking, and gardening. She loved watching baseball, staying up to date on all things Blue Jays. Always with a positive outlook, Leona was known for her smile.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 16 at 10 am in Our Saviour Lutheran Church, Fort Qu’Appelle. Interment to follow at Lipton Cemetery. Of course, a decent lunch to follow at Lipton Town Hall.
