Lorraine is survived by her daughter Judy and her two sons Richard and Michael. She leaves behind her past in-laws Muriel Belon, Barb Petrie, and Doug Cope; as well as many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
Lorraine dedicated her life to the field of education. She began teaching in a one-room country school with only a wood stove to heat the classroom. Later, Lorraine became one of the first Indigenous woman to teach in a residential school; she taught at Marival Residential School, located at Cowessess First Nation. She taught in many communities, retiring in Battleford Saskatchewan.
Lorraine and her siblings were honoured to have the Royal Canadian Mounted Police attend their mother’s funeral. For many years and including last year, Lorraine supported by donating funds to the Saskatchewan Federation of Police Officers.
The graveside service was held in the Broadview Cemetery, Broadview, Saskatchewan on Friday, October 7, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Larry Hedman officiating. A celebration of life followed in the Broadview Community Hall.
