Louis was born to Gerard and Annette on the family farm on March 27, 1950. He grew up in Montmartre, SK. He started dating the love of his life, Gena in 1970. They married in 1971 and had two children. Louis was a farmer for 43 years. He loved farming with son Kevin and was passing his knowledge onto the next generation. He was incredible with people and had an easy-going way that lead to many friendships in all aspects of his life. He had a special way of making everyone feel like part of the family – he was a father to many. His greatest joys in life were his children and grandchildren. He was immensely proud of his family and their accomplishments. He was a hands on dad and grandfather who was there for every event in their lives. His grandchildren adored him and were always on his lap or on the floor playing with him. Louis enjoyed hunting, fishing and the great outdoors. Louis’s stories were bigger and better every time he shared them. Louis was a member of the Montmartre Lions Club for 36 years and was actively involved in volunteering in the community.
Louis will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his beloved wife and best friend, Gena; his daughter Tanya (Kim Reavie) and children Keaton Giroux-Willimont, Hailey Reavie and Caitlyn Reavie; his son Kevin (Cynthia) and their children Sebastien, Riley, Sarra and Mitchell.
He is survived by his siblings: Lea Giroux, Celine Giroux (John Kearney), Helen (Dan) Knoll, Madeleine (Mike) Muhr, Dolores (Ralph) Rist and Rita Giroux (Glen Giddings). He will be missed by his sister in-law Joanne (Allan) Kazakoff and brother in-law Henry Jesiolowski (Georgeanne Jarvis), nieces, nephews and many friends.
