The funeral service will be held in St. Andrew’s United Church, Indian Head, SK Thursday, June 11, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. with Shelby Kinrade officiating.
Cremation with a family interment in Indian Head Cemetery prior to the service.
Margaret was predeceased by her parents Roy and Dorothy Williams, brothers Jimmie Williams in the RCAF in 1945 and Ken Williams in 1994, her first husband Lyle Ross, her second husband Ben Hewson with whom she shared the last half of her life, step-son Richard Hewson, grandson Yacov Bak and two sisters-in-law, Grace Williams and Freddie Stanger.
Remembering her are her children: Marlene and Terry of Calgary, Del (Don), Balcarres, Doug (Ina), Brampton, Ontario, Tracy, Regina and Ben’s children: Rick (Janet), Winnipeg, Russ (Roberta), Cupar, SK, Heather (Al), Lang, SK, Helen (Gordon), Indian Head and many grandchildren and great grandchildren; her brother Duane Williams, Regina as well as many, much loved nieces and nephews.
When Ben retired from John Deere and Ag Cat in 1980, he and Marg were able to travel. They enjoyed their contact with others who had shared Ben’s wartime experiences at the Burma Bomber reunions, the war time Pilots and Observers gatherings in Winnipeg and the 600 Wing Socials in Regina. Marg and Ben spent many winters in Arizona where they golfed, biked, danced, hiked and swam, making many dear friends along the way. Their church was central to their lives, both serving in many capacities as elders, on council and Marg with the U.C.W. She had a fine time singing with the choir, many contented hours were spent with her oil paints, too, and her association with the Qu’Appelle Valley Art Group. Marg and Ben loved their beautiful old century home, the ancient crab apple tree in the spring, watching the new little jenny wrens fledge every summer, reading by the old fireplace in the winter, the family barbecues and noisy, multi-generational gatherings – happy and wonderful years. In a long and well-used life there will be sorrows outweighed by blessings, joy and love.
In lieu of flowers, Marg’s family would be honoured if her memory was recognized by donations to St. Andrew’s United Church, Box 354, Indian Head, SK S0G 2K0.
