On Tuesday, October 19, 2021, Mervin died in St. Paul's Hospital, Saskatoon, SK at the age of 59 years.
Mervin was predeceased by his parents Jimmy and Bertha Wahpoosywan (nee Assiniboine); his sisters Sandra and Shirleen and brothers: Donald, Dennis, Barry, Harold and Keith Wahpoosywan.
He is survived by his daughter Kimberly Loftus; grandson Ethan; brothers Fred Wahpoosywan and Orval Wahpoosywan as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
Mervin was very loving, caring, kind hearted, happy-go-lucky and a cheerful person. His favorite quotes were "blah blah blah", "mind your P's and Q's" as well as "mind your beeswax". Mervin was one of the best card players and he loved to play chess. He loved to talk about his daughter whom he called his little Chocolate Bunnie.
A wake will be held in the Sakimay Community Complex on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the Sakimay Community Complex on Sunday, October 24, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. with Elders presiding. Interment in Sakimay United Church Cemetery.
The family would like express that no children attend the wake and funeral. The family has asked that only family members attend funeral services due to the recent number of Covid-19 cases.
