OBITUARY

Patricia Helen (Cope) Ginnis

March 21, 1957October 30, 2020

Pat passed away peacefully at home with family by her side on Friday, October 30, 2020 at the age of 63.

She was predeceased by her grandmother Helen Gerard; grandmother Alice Cope; her mother Alma; mother and father-in-law Harry and Susan and brother-in-law Baden. She leaves behind to love and remember her, her father, Doug; her loving husband Paul; her children and grandchildren: Cal (Leah), Destin, Jayvyn & Jaycee, Aidan & Ashlyn; Darcy (Christine), Cordell, Justice & Sierra; Devin, Tye, Bo & Lex; Colby (Ashley), Hunter & Hayden; three siblings: Cathy (Greg); Debbie (Joyten) and Dale (Shelley); many nieces & nephews, as well as extended family and friends.

Pat was born on March 21, 1957 in Grenfell, SK. She spent her life helping others which showed in the many jobs and roles she held. She was a Lifeguard & Swimming Instructor, First Aid & CPR Instructor, Victim Services volunteer, and a Special Care Aide at the Grenfell Pioneer Home.

She met the love of her life, Paul in 1972 and were married on June 28, 1976. Her greatest love was her family and especially her 11 grandchildren whom she loved unconditionally. Pat was the happiest when her house was full of family and friends or travelling all over Saskatchewan and Canada to watch her grandkids in hockey, football, gymnastics and dance. She never hesitated to load up her car with as many grandkids as she could and go on a trip whether it was a shopping and spa day in Regina with the granddaughters, or weekend trips to Medora, ND, Minot, ND, Silverwood, Idaho or Disney. She loved the outdoors and working in her beautiful yard. She loved to travel with Paul to Mexico, Cuba, Costa Rico, Jamaica, many places in Canada and the United States and Europe. She also did many trips with her friends.

Special thanks to all the Doctors and the wonderful home care nurses who took such good care of her.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to either the Grenfell Lions Club Box 1296, Grenfell, SK, S0G 2B0 or the Grenfell Legion Branch 55, Box 895, Grenfell, SK S0G 2B0.

My deepest condolences to the family.
I have fond memories of Pat, one was, when we went to a family reunion a-few years back, Pat was simply incredible because she went out of her way to make me comfortable in every way. I enjoyed her spirit and fresh outlook on life. She and I would talk for hrs and hrs over a cup of coffee and simply bonded over family and gardening. What a special lady and sweet soul. I’m praying for your husband Paul the kids and grandkids.

The favourite memory our whole family has is of Pat teaching our boys , late teenagers in 1988, how to SQUAW WRESTLE ...... with such an energetic and amusing instruction !
As first time visitors to Canada , we valued this doubly, being such a fitting cultural experience to compare with Malawian customs when we got home. Bless you , Pat xx xx
But above all we remember Pat’s joy and fun and lightheartedness and generosity , and now send our love and deepest condolences to Paul and family . May God bless you all.
