Peter Gordon Flett

August 6, 1934October 21, 2019

Monday October 21, 2019, Peter Gordon Flett, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away peacefully at the age of 85.

Peter was born August 6, 1934 on the Flett farm in Fort Qu’Appelle. Peter spent his entire 85 years living and working the farm he was born on.

On August 9, 1958 Peter made the best decision of his life by marrying the love of his life, Jean (Wetherill). Together they raised two sons, Tom (Mitzi) and Steve (Patsy); two daughters Jo Lynn (Dave Huber) and Susan (Tom Nakonechny); grandchildren Kristin, Jake, Devan, Eric, Janelle, Andrew, Zach, Nina, and great-grandson Hudson.

Peter’s love was the family, the farm, and his animals. Nothing pleased him more than to go riding in the coulee with his family, especially with his grandchildren.

Peter and his pet steer Poncho participated in many a parade/sports day in the surrounding towns dragging along Jean, the kids and his many close friends for a day of fun and laughter. The Fort Qu’Appelle Canada Day parade was always a special event. He was very active in his community being a member of the Lions club, Curling club, RM Councillor, Galloway Association and Stock Growers Association.

Peter’s later years have been filled with wood working and tinkering, making special items for all his family while keeping an eye on how the farm continued to be run by his eldest son Tom and his wife Mitzi and their three sons.

Family graveside service was held on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 in the Lakeview Cemetery in Fort Qu’Appelle. A Celebration of Life Reception will be held in the Royal Canadian Legion Hall. Arrangements in care of Tubman Cremation and Funeral Services. 1-800-667-8962

Dear Jean & family ..
Although we didn’t know Peter very well , the few times we met , we shared lots of laughs . The family reunion held in Edenwold all those many years ago . Peter trying to teach me the 7 step . The way you two could “ cut a rug “ .. great dancers , a joy to watch .
The beef pit we did for your son’s wedding . Peter dug a pit big enough to put the whole herd in . And , the meat turned out perfect . Our sincere condolences.
