She was born in Esterhazy, Saskatchewan to Brian and Jean Petracek. Roxanne went to primary school and high school in Esterhazy. She was always fond of flowers, animals and farm living. Her chosen career was nursing and the highlight of it was when she worked for many years in the Burn Unit of the Regina General Hospital. Her later years were spent working in the Wolseley Hospital.
She is survived by her parents Brian and Jean Petracek of Kelowna, BC; younger sister Roberta Petracek (Grant Zimmer) of West Kelowna, BC; her daughter Jessica Bartok of Regina, SK and son Tyler Bartok of Esterhazy, SK along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Roxanne was predeceased by her grandparents Harold and Lucille Bochek, Rudolf and Georgia Petracek; aunties Patricia Swejda and Judith Cavanaugh and also uncles: Paul Bochek, David Swejda and Wesley Petracek.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1910 McIntyre Street, Regina, SK S4P 2R3 or unwed mother organization of your choice would be appreciated.
The family would like the thank the nursing staff and doctors who helped Roxanne during her frequent stays in hospital. A special thank you also goes to Roxanne’s dear friend Patty Cole who was her main caregiver and support during Roxanne’s difficult journey.
The funeral mass was celebrated in Resurrection R.C. Church, 3155 Windsor Park Road, Regina, Saskatchewan on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. by Very Rev. Richard Krofchek. Cremation with interment in the Gerald R.C. Cemetery, Gerald, Saskatchewan on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. Everyone was welcome to both services.
