Teresa Howden (nee Campbell) April 10, 1930 – July 26, 2022 It is with grateful hearts for a life well-lived that the family of Teresa Josephine Howden (nee Campbell) announce the passing of our mother on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 in Regina. There were 4 touchstones in Teresa’s life: her faith, her family, her profession and bridge! Born on April 10, 1930 in Coalisland, Co. Tyrone, Northern Ireland, Teresa’s first adventure began at the age of 6 weeks when her parents with their 10 children in tow, emigrated to Paradise Valley, Alberta. Tragedy struck the large family when their father died on December 26, 1932 leaving a young widow, with now 11 children to raise. In 1938 the family moved to Qu’Appelle where they made their home. Following high school Teresa attended the Moose Jaw Normal School and began her love of teaching in a one-room schoolhouse, Inglewood School just north of Qu’Appelle. After getting her own family off to school, she returned to teaching in Qu’Appelle and loved every minute of it. Teresa married Stan Howden, a young farmer from the Edgeley district, on November 13, 1952. They farmed and raised their three children while experiencing the joys and challenges of a tight-knit rural community. Always a competitor, she could be found cheering on her children and grandchildren in the stands at hockey arenas, sports fields and school gyms across Saskatchewan and Alberta. In 1986 they moved to Fort Qu’Appelle where they resided for over 30 years. Mom was active in her community through her church, local organizations, line-dancing, golfing and of course, the bridge club. Mom enjoyed travel and post-retirement, they spent many winters in Mesa, Arizona and travelled throughout the area. She made several trips to Ireland and Scotland to connect with family and had toured much of Canada and the USA. Teresa was predeceased by her beloved husband Stan and infant daughter Mary; her parents John and Mary Jane Campbell, her in-laws, Jack and Dorothy Howden, and her siblings: Margaret, Anne, Peter, Brigid, Owen, John, Kathryn (Kay), Molly, Helen and Joe and many members of the Howden and Barber clans. She will forever be lovingly remembered by her children: Tim (Donna), Mick (Alison) and Jeanne Eriksen (Dave). Her grandsons: Sheldon (Denise), John (Jenna), Andrew (Breanne), Tyrone (Glennda) and James (Amy); her granddaughter Terri (Steve) and her great grandchildren: Sara, Chloe, Reese, Kate, Madelyn, Scarlett, Ayda and Jack; her sister-in-law Rita Campbell; her Campbell nieces, nephews; her Campbell and O’Neill cousins and the Howden and Barber cousins. The family would like to thank the health care professionals and staff at the Pasqua Hospital, ward 4A (team 4) and the Palliative Care unit all of whom took such wonderful care of Mom in her final days. Your kindness will always be remembered. Funeral mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of Sorrows Roman Catholic Church, Fort Qu’Appelle, Saskatchewan on Monday, August 8, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. Attendees are encouraged to wear a mask in the church. A lunch will be served at the Lions’ Community Hall in Qu’Appelle, Saskatchewan following the interment in the Qu’Appelle Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Parkinson Canada, 610 Duchess Street, Saskatoon, SK S7K 0R1 or the Palliative Care unit, Pasqua Hospital, 4101 Dewdney Ave, Regina, SK S4T 1A5.
