Xavier was affectionately known to many as X or X-man. He loved playing lacrosse, as he was introduced to the game by his Grandpa Malcolm when he was 8. He was so happy to have made the Standing Buffalo Fighting Sioux Lacrosse team in 2019, but the COVID pandemic cut the season before it began. COVID also halted powwows and round dances, as he was looking forward to travelling and singing and dancing. The isolation of COVID took its toll on him as he fought to remain positive and hopeful.
He was generous with his heart and was known for his smile during lacrosse games. He loved his music and journals. His mind was always working. He had a brilliant mind that harbored ideas beyond his time. He carried a great sorrow for the human afflictions and often felt the pressure of the woes of the world and carried it valiantly on his shoulders. He wanted so much to heal the pain of the human condition, especially of those he loved so dearly. Xavier’s beautiful soul will be missed so much, especially by his mom and dad. He was their world. The world is less without him.
The wake was held in the Cegakin Community Centre, Cegakin Nakota Nation on Friday, January 28, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. The funeral service was held in the Cegakin Community Centre on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. with Kevin Haywahe officiating. Interment followed in the South Cemetery.
