Born on June 17, 2017, in Woodbury, Minnesota, Brynn was the cherished daughter of Derek and Amanda (Moss) LaBar, a devoted little sister to Aubrey (10), and proud mother of her blue beta fish, Stitch Jr. Jr. (9 months).
Her personality was larger than life—loving, kind, spunky, brave, inquisitive, and hilarious – and she had the best facial expressions. She had an infectious energy that filled every room, enough questions to keep you chatting for hours, and she embraced everyone with openness, acceptance, and joy.
A student at Liberty Ridge Elementary, Brynn was excited to begin third grade this fall with her new pink backpack. Her favorite subjects were lunch, recess, and chatting with friends. When she grew up, she wanted to be a mom and police officer, which we assured her she could absolutely do both. We also thought she would be excellent in politics or sales – if you had the chance to chat with Brynn, she probably told a story that was 50% accurate that you 100% believed.
Brynn was a bright light who never met a stranger. She had a gift for connecting with others—always asking questions, learning about people, and making everyone feel welcome. Not a day went by where the doorbell didn’t ring for someone to play with Brynn or she wasn’t asking one of us to write down our phone number for a new friend she met at school, camp, or a friend's birthday party. She loved her friends fiercely; each and every one of them made such a positive impact on Brynn’s life.
She had a zest for life and a playful, motherly spirit. Brynn loved babies—both her dolls, each lovingly named after younger children in the neighborhood, and the many real-life little ones she adored. When she was younger, she was often seen pushing her babies in the same stroller she once rode in or loading 3+ baby carriers in the car before going anywhere. This summer, she experienced her first true taste of independence - riding her bike through the neighborhood to find kids to play with her, going down to the park, or having them come back to her house to jump on her new trampoline for which she saved up to help purchase.
Although she is gone much too soon, she experienced so much. Countless trips to Green Bay, spending time with family and friends, cabin trips where she learned to love nature and water skiing, trips to Disney Land, Disney World, a Disney Cruise, and road trips to Mount Rushmore, Niagara Falls and Canada. She loved exploring and getting to try all the local ice cream (vanilla with strawberry was always a favorite!).
Brynn loved music, and she filled our home with songs— asking Alexa to play her favorites every day, sometimes even managing to purchase a subscription or two by accident. Music was one of her great joys, and her singing and dancing brought smiles to everyone around her. If you want to sing with Brynn, listen to Keep Your Head Up by Andy Grammar, This Girl is On Fire by Alicia Keys, or Golden from K-Pop Demon Hunters and sing along as loud as you can.
Brynn was our little fish and jumped in the water every chance she could get. She also had the opportunity to try many sports and was excited for bowling, basketball, and volleyball this fall. In 2025 she competed at the state bowling championship with an impressive average of 74, and she looked forward to many seasons ahead. Brynn also joined a BIPOC-mentored Girl Scout troop, which allowed her many, many fun experiences with her Girl Scout sisters and most importantly taught her how to love herself and others.
Brynn is survived by her parents, Derek and Amanda (Moss) LaBar, sister Aubrey LaBar, grandparents Dave and Janice (LaMarre) LaBar and Bonnie Rogers; aunts and uncles Becky (LaBar) and Ryan Erdmann, Jessica (Moss) and Nate Wheeler, Alex and Harmony Moss; and cousins Emmalyn, Easton, Amara, and Harrison. She is preceded in death and welcomed in heaven by her grandpa, Lewis Moss, and beloved great-grandparents, family, and friends.
A service celebrating Brynn’s life will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at King of Kings Lutheran Church (1583 Radio Drive, Woodbury, MN). Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. Please feel free to wear Brynn’s favorite colors, blue or pink, or her favorite character, Stitch. The service will be livestreamed at the following link:
