Born in Minneapolis, Carol spent her early years moving around Minnesota with her parents and sisters before settling in Shoreview at age 10. Though she lived in several communities as a
child, Duluth always held a special place in her heart, and she often spoke fondly of the three years she spent there.
As a young military wife and mother, Carol embraced the adventures and challenges of military life, raising her three young sons while living throughout the country and in Cuba. After settling
in White Bear Lake, she continued building a life centered on family and eventually raised six children.
Carol later reconnected with Ted Bourquin at a White Bear Lake High School reunion. They married and made their home in Cottage Grove until Ted's passing in 1990. For more than 20 years, Carol worked staffing nurses at United Hospital. In 1995, she helped
support her daughters as they founded Woodbury Dance Center, where she spent decades welcoming families, answering phones, sewing costumes, and creating lasting memories. Cole Lake held a special place in Carol's heart and was the setting for many of her favorite memories throughout her life. She also enjoyed reading, feeding birds (and chipmunks), cheering on the Minnesota Wild, and spending time with family and friends. She especially treasured her lifelong friendships with Eleanor, Marilyn, and the "Gisella Boulevard bunch."
Carol will be remembered for her resilience, creativity, generous spirit, and ability to make everyone feel welcome. Her legacy lives on through her family, the many lives she touched, and
the community she helped create.
