OBITUARY

Charles Arlo Evavold

Passed away on October 3, 2019

Rev. Charles Arlo Evavold Age 84, of Woodbury, MN, died peacefully on Thursday morning, October 3, 2019. He had waged a courageous battle with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases. He was a man who valued faith, family, and friends above all else. He had a wonderful sense of humor, a limitless compassion for others, and a zest for life that will be greatly missed.

He was born near Battle Lake, MN, the second child of Arthur and Sarah Evavold. He graduated from Battle Lake High School, Augsburg College, and Augsburg Seminary. Then he served as Lutheran pastor in many communities: Pelican Rapids, MN; Amery, WI; Janesville, WI; Holmen, WI; Bock, MN; and West St. Paul. He and his wife, Joanne, celebrated 60 years of marriage in June. They are the proud parents of four children: Maureen (John), Chris (Ingrid), Steve (Charlene), and Lynette (Dominic). He was a loving grandfather to Axel, Echo, Isaac, Beret, Isabella, and Amelia. He is further survived by his siblings and their families: (Joyce), (Peggy), LaVaye (LeWayne), Sylvia (Duane), Virgil (Vicki), Jerome (Mary), and Darlene (Richard), as well as many extended relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-father Alvin, and his brothers Donald and Glenn. He was also preceded in death by his parents-in-law Earl and Francis, and his brother-in-law Tom.

A Celebration of Life is planned for Friday, October 18, 2019, at 9 AM, at King of Kings Lutheran Church, Woodbury, MN. Visitation with the family will start at 8 AM. At 5 PM that same day, there will be a graveside service and burial at Grue Lutheran Church, Battle Lake, MN.

Wulff Funeral Home of Woodbury has been assisting the family.

We express endless gratitude to the Memory Care unit at St. Therese in Woodbury and to HealthEast Hospice for the love and care shown to Charles and Joanne during the last months and weeks. Thank you, too, to the wonderful family members and friends who have assisted in so MANY ways!

Memorials may be made in Charles' name to King of Kings Church, Woodbury, earmarked for one of these three programs that he loved: Loaves and Fishes (providing free, healthy meals for people in need in Minneapolis); Feed My Starving Children (providing food for hungry children worldwide); or Friends of Africa Education (directly supporting a school in Tanzania).

October 7, 2019

Such a wonderful, compassionate man and Pastor. He and JoAnne had so many friends at Holmen Lutheran Church in Holmen, Wisconsin. We have so many loving memories of them. The loving arms of Christ enfold him now and his struggle is over. Our loving prayers are with you JoAnne and your family. Ed and I along with our three sons, Eddy, David and Steven will always remember him.
Blessings, Ed and Diane Eisermann
