Graduate of Sacred Heart Grade School, class of 1950; Cretin High School, class of 1954; and Chemical Engineering graduate of the University of Minnesota, class of 1959. Went to work at 3M two days after graduation and enjoyed his entire 34 year career there. He will be remembered for his love of family, golf, bowling, bridge, cribbage with the kids, and helping others. His children learned from him the importance of family, hard work, patience and gratitude. He instilled values in his children by example, such as: do your best, be kind, help where you can, save your money, live within your means and be grateful for the blessings you’ve been given. He was very proud of his Swiss heritage and was a long-time member of the St. Paul Swiss Society. In his retirement Dave and Andi, with brother Bob and sister-in-law Donna, traveled to their father’s home in a Swiss village high in the Alps where they visited relatives in the very home where their father had been born and raised. This trip was a cherished memory of a lifetime. For the past five years, Dave has dealt with MDS, Myelodysplastic Syndrome, a disease of the bone marrow and blood cells. Heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff and volunteers of HealthEast Cancer Care/Infusion Care Centers at Woodwinds Hospital, especially Dr. Puneet Cheema, NP Mark Thalacker, nurses Kris, Connie, Terry, Lori, Joan and Gloria, for their professional talents and compassionate hearts. Special thanks to Dave’s primary care doctor of 30+ years, Dr. Steven Kulenkamp, for his kind care and valued advice. God bless all of you who walked with Dave on his journey. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Wulff Woodbury Funeral Home, 2195 Woodlane Dr. in Woodbury, MN, on Thursday, September 10, 4:00-7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at Guardian Angels Church, 8260 4th St. No., Oakdale, MN. on Friday, September 11 at 10:00 a.m., with visitation at 9:00 a.m., and followed by inurnment in the church cemetery and a luncheon; please bring a favorite story to share at the luncheon. We will hold you in our hearts forever.
