David's experience as a farm boy taught him the value of hard work. After trying his hand at farming for several years, he ventured into home construction. He attended carpenters trade school and became a member of the Twin Cities Carpenters and Joiners union.
After marrying Judy and the birth of their 2 children, David moved to Cottage Grove, MN where he firmly established his reputation as a quality builder. He eventually went into business for himself forming Klemmensen Builders and Designers. This business was very successful for many years and won many awards and accolades including the 1987 Parade of Homes Award of Excellence for single family homes. David and Judy moved into a beautiful home in Woodbury, MN which he had built and lived there for many years.
After the passing of Judy, David closed his construction business but did not lose his love and involvement in carpentry and home building. He established another business, Quality Home Inspectors, where he worked with area real estate businesses doing inspections prior to sales. One day at St. Andrew's a fellow church member approached him and asked if he would be interested in a job. Consequently, David worked as a valet for Mercedes Benz of Maplewood for many years. He loved that job and recalled that he enjoyed driving beautiful cars all day and meeting interesting people. David saw a better opportunity and ventured over to the new Woodbury Costco store which he helped open and became a greeter there for several years.
David fully retired at the age of 84 and currently lived in Lake Elmo, MN with his wife, Darla.
