Died on Saturday, April 15 at Hometown Senior Living of Hudson, WI. She was born July 22, 1915 in Woodbury, the daughter of William and Bertha (Kuehl) Gausman. After graduating from Harding High School in St. Paul and the Rasmussen School of Business, she worked for six years as an executive secretary at the Hilex Company in St. Paul. On June 10, 1939, she was married to Robert B. Garbe.They farmed in Ramsey County until 1957 when they moved to their dairy farm in Hudson. She lived independently in her farm home until after her 100th birthday. Doris was a dedicated fulltime mother and housewife. She enjoyed gardening, reading, piano playing, feeding the birds, travel, painting, local women’s clubs and family.Survived by her son R. Charles (Barbara) Garbe of Hudson; three grandsons Steven (JoAnne) Garbe of New Brighton MN, Roger (Rebecca) Garbe of Hudson, John (Maria) Garbe of Woodbury; and six great-grandchildren, Cody, Brady, Amelia, Taebin, Henry and Isaac Garbe.She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Robert Garbe, brother Wallace Gausman, sister Phyllis Fink and an infant grandson. A celebration of life will be held Friday, April 21 at 3:00 at Woodbury/Peaceful Grove UMC, 7465 Steepleview Rd., Woodbury, MN. Visitation will be held one hour before the service. Interment will be in the Woodbury United Methodist Cemetery, Woodbury MN. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Adoray Hospice.
