Passed away peacefully on November 6, 2014 at Woodwinds Hospital. Elaine was born to Gilman and Laura (Zieman) Gilbertson in Carlos, MN on December 22, 1918. She received her education in the public schools of Alexandria MN, Wilmot SD, and Brooten MN. She married C.T. Kaupang on November 1, 1947 in Fairmont, MN. They farmed in New Sweden Township until they retired and moved to St. Peter, MN. Elaine is survived by her husband of 67 years, Conrad T. Kaupang; two daughters and their husbands, Dianne and Louis Fine of Woodbury and Brenda & David Bindert of Stillwater; five grandchildren: Rob Fine (Beth), Michael Fine, Jennifer Galvin (Brian), Nick Bindert (Ramona), and Jon Bindert (Kayla); five great-grandchildren: Lauren & Elaine Fine, Kade Fine, and Ellie & Harlow Galvin. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two sisters, three step-brothers and one step-sister. A private family service will be held.
