Joe died peacefully on 12/4/14 surrounded by his family. Preceded in death by his parents, Gregory J. and Fern (Capistran) Fries and sister, Eileen Wilkens. Survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Marylee; daughters, Laura (John Cox) Fries, Jeanne (William) McLeod and Catherine (Leonard) Barnes; 8 grandchildren, Alex, Lucy, George, Elizabeth and Jack McLeod, Austin, Ethan and Elise Barnes; siblings, Ronald (Connie), Gregory (Georgine), James (Mary), Dolores Welch, Valerie (Vern) Ruwwe and Linda (George) Deckon; many nieces and nephews. Joe graduated from Crookston Cathedral High School, attended Minnesota School of Business and served in the U.S. Army from October 1957 to October 1959. He married Marylee Allen in 1961. Joe worked at the U.S. Postal Service in St. Paul for 30 Years, retiring in 1992. Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM Tuesday 12/9 at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, 8260 Hudson Blvd. N., Oakdale. Visitation 5-8 PM Monday 12/8 at Wulff Funeral Home, 2195 Woodlane Dr., Woodbury and 1 hour prior to Mass at church. Interment at Guardian Angels Church Cemetery.
