Garry R Sayre
July 29, 1937 – May 26, 2020
On Tuesday May 26th 2020 Garry Robert Sayre passed away at the age of 82 in his home. He was preceded in death by his Parents Robert & Margaret Sayre and Brother, Loren Sayre. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Harriet Sayre, his brother Roger Sayre (Ron), daughters Wendy Weberg (Rob), Patricia Krier and Randy Sayre. Garry was a very proud grandpa to his 5 grandchildren; Kelsey, Jake, Kaila, Chris, and Luke.
Garry was born and raised in St. Paul, MN where his father had a dry-cleaning business on the East Side. It was there that he worked for many years until he started a new career as a Boiler Engineer for US West where he stayed for 30 years and then set off to enjoy an early retirement.
Garry really enjoyed talking with his brother Roger, who lives in Sante Fe, NM. They would talk every Sunday to catch up and at times reminisce about their childhood, the special people in their lives, such as Peter who was the tailor at the dry-cleaning plant. Peter was part of the family and a very important person in Garry’s life
During the summer months, Garry and his wife Harriet would travel around Minnesota antiquing and looking for old clocks for him to restore. They met so many people during their outings and kept in touch with them over the years. At one point we had 65 clocks throughout the house that he would set to have them all go off at the same time... Imagine that!
He loved camping with our family in Brainerd at Wilderness Point Resort, where they had a “spot” as he would call it, for 30 plus years. While there he enjoyed fishing, even though he was not a fan of eating the fish he caught. We met several families from Iowa that would come at the same time each year, dad and mom enjoyed socializing with them and hearing their stories about their farm life. Garry also enjoyed spending the summer with the family at their Cottage on the St. Croix.
A special thank you to Maria Stamos, our in-home nurse who was such a blessing to my father, along with Lauren Wohlberg, who had just started helping. Both Maria and Lauren were amazing and dad bonded with them right away and looked forward to them coming every day.
He will be missed by all of us very much; our mother’s husband, our father and grandfather to our children, gave us so many great memories to help ease the pain and carry us on and through the rest of our journey without him. A small gathering will be planned for a later date. God Bless.

Happy Father's Day!
Our first Father's Day without you, we laid you to rest yesterday and now you are at peace.
The service and celebration of your life was very nice, filled with tears and the sharing of great memories we will cherish for ever. Your special friend and neighbor Patty shared some of her great memories, she misses you and your conversations.
Everyday I miss you dad and over time my broken heart will heal as I think of you and all of the family memories that have been created throughout the years. From the bottom of my heart, Thank You for all of your love, everything you taught us and the sacrifices that were made along the way.
I am also grateful to have had the extra time with you over the last three months and helping to care for you; it really gave us the time to have great conversations as we sat on the edge of your bed holding hands when you couldn't sleep or simply watching the birds in the morning. That is something your "Little Trishie" won't forget. 😊
Say "Hi " to everyone up there in Heaven and one day we will be together again. With all my love and hugs, Patricia. ❤
