Gin was born to Wallace and Muriel Heldt on April 4, 1953 from Butterfield, MN. As a child, she grew up on the family farm the middle of 5 children. During her school years, she was active in band, choir, madrigals, cheerleading, and she even won the county Spelling Bee. Gin graduated in 1971 from Butterfield-Odin High School. She met her late husband, Darrell Becker, during the following years at Southwest State University in Marshall, MN. They married in 1973 and lived in Wausau, WI with their two children, Andrew and Holly. Darrell died in 2002 and Gin moved to Chanhassen, MN and was there until her marriage to Jim Langan II in 2013. They lived in Afton, MN.
In addition to being a dedicated and loving wife, mother, and Nonna, Gin also loved singing and directing the church choir, playing and teaching piano, playing organ for church, reading, traveling and especially spending time with her grandchildren. Her favorite trips were to Germany, Alaska, Hawaii, South Carolina, Gulf Shores, Marco Island, and Florida/Disney with the grandchildren.
Throughout her entire life, she held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those whom she had contact in her daily life and through volunteer activities in the church. She was always involved in a Bible Study either in person or virtually during COVID and had many dear friends from them. Her greatest desire was to see her loved ones believe in Christ’s love and sacrifice for them.
Gin was diagnosed with cancer in August of 2018 and fiercely fought the disease these past 4 years. In April 2022, she was told there were no more options with which to fight her cancer, and she entered St. Croix Hospice.
Gin joins her parents, Wallace and Muriel Heldt, first husband Darrell Becker, son-in-law Tom McMeeken, nephew David Heldt, and sister-in-laws Lana Schaefer and Marthe Becker in Heaven.
She is survived by husband Jim Langan II, son Andrew (Juleen) Becker, and daughter Holly (Brandon) McMeeken-Gunter along with grandchildren Vincent Gunter, Tyson Newburgh, Darren McMeeken, Cassidy McMeeken, and Brooklyn Becker. Gin is also survived by her 4 siblings and their spouses: Barb (Ron) Wolff, Elwood (Connie) Heldt, Vicki (Glen) Norton, and Marge (Larry) Wohlenhaus along with many nieces and nephews. Gin felt blessed to have gained additional family, who now survive her, when she married Jim Langan II including father-in-law James Langan I, stepchildren Kelly (Tim) Shea, Kari Langan, James (Keri) Langan III, Colin (Bobbi) Langan and Michael (Tanya) Langan. Step-grandchildren include Loretta, Moira, Cordell, Violet, Ella Langan, and Henry Shea.
