Peter Windey, 86, of Cottage Grove. Born August 11, 1940 to the late Nellie (Jennen) and Henry Windey in Minneota, Minnesota. He graduated from Hanley Falls High School in 1958 and then attended the University of Minnesota and studied Engineering. He worked for 3M for 35 years in various divisions, retiring in 1992. He had the opportunity to move with 3M to Austin Texas where he and Sharon lived for five years.
On August 15, 1959, Peter was united in marriage to Sharon Knutson at the Cana Chapel in the Cathedral of St. Paul. Over the years, their marriage would be blessed by the births of their three children. His number one priority was his family.
He loved camping and boating with his family on Lake Superior. After retiring, Peter and Sharon enjoyed domestic and international travel. They found their winter home in Green Valley, Arizona and became snowbirds for many years.
Peter is survived by Sharon, his beloved wife of 67 years; children: daughter, Laura Windey, son, Tim (Kathy) Windey, and daughter, Lisa Roering (Don); and grandchildren: Krista (Tim) Huska, Steven (Paige) Roering, Alyssa (Zach) Deo, Angela (Taylor) Tschida and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Nellie; brothers, Donald and Joseph; sisters, Marlys and Connie. May God richly bless the memory of Peter Windey.
His Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, October 24 with visitation one hour prior at Wulff Funeral Home, 2195 Woodlane Drive, Woodbury Minnesota. Lunch will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to the American Heart Association.
