Reverend James David (Dave) Liggett Jr. of Genoa, WI joined our Lord and Savior in Heaven on June 7, 2022, at Brookdale Dementia Care Center in Eagan, MN – three days after celebrating his 76th birthday surrounded by family.
Dave was blessed with a large and loving family. Dave and his beloved wife Rosemary (Rosie) were married on August 21, 1971. They celebrated their 50th anniversary at the family’s favorite destination, “The Beach” in South Carolina with all their children and grandchildren in 2021. Dave instilled a passion for faith, love, and adventure in his family, raising his children to walk with Christ, and regularly embarking on cross country road trips to many national parks and monuments. Some of Dave’s favorite destinations included Glacier National Park, South Carolina, and Marco Island, FL. His love for mountains, the ocean, and the Mississippi River were evident in his travels both here and abroad and is reflected in his children and grandchildren who carry that legacy forward with their families.
Dave was a Pastor for Christ’s flock here on earth for 40+ years. He graduated from Michigan Lutheran Seminary in 1964, Northwestern Lutheran College in 1968 and the Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in 1972. He served the congregations of St. Matthews in Stoddard, WI, St. John’s Lutheran Church in Genoa, WI, St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye, MN, and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in North Mankato, MN. He finished his career as a Christian Giving Counselor and Director of Planned Giving for the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod.
Dave was born on June 4, 1946, in Decatur, IN to Almeda (Buuck) and James D Liggett Sr. who preceded Dave in death. He is also preceded in death by granddaughter, Johanna Patton.
Dave is survived by his loving wife, Rosemary (Stern) Liggett, six children Elisabeth R (Jason) Stuewe, Michael D (Cammy) Liggett, Katherine M (Marc) Patton, Marie J (Jon) Tuhy, Rebecca A (Stephen) Huberty, and Daniel R (Carlee) Liggett and 15 grandchildren: Peyton, Teegan, Seydie, Kiley, Brenyn, Breah, Annalise, Jillian, Miriam, Maggie, Callie, Raegan, Riley, Grace and Noah.
