

Preceded in death by beloved wife of 63 years, Arlene; parents, Rolly Sr. and Novella, sisters Phyllis and Pat; brothers Ralph and Richard. Survived by sisters Harriet and Mary Lou (Ferral); brothers, Rolly Jr. (Judy) and Bruce; children, Gail (Steve), Ralph (special friend Kathy), Jerene (Jeff); grandchildren, Matthew, Kayla (Max) and Logan.
Jim was born in St. John, Washington and attended the University of Idaho where he received a BS in chemical engineering with high honors. He also played baseball for the Vandals where he met future football HOF Jerry Kramer. He then moved his family to Minnesota where he received a PhD in organic chemistry. He went on to work for 3M where he designed and patented numerous advanced chemical formulations. Also, during this time he became enamored with ice hockey and passed that passion onto his son.He had many hobbies including landscaping, wood working, planting, golfing, fishing, walking, puzzles and marathon running.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, July 23rd, 2026 at 11:00 am with visitation 1 hour prior to service from 10:00 - 11:00am with a burial to follow at Guardian Angels Catholic Church (historic church), 8260 4th St. N., Oakdale, MN 55128.
