Joan was born on December 6, 1951 in Bridgeport, CT, the oldest of eight children. The family moved often for their father's work and Joan was generally expected to take the lead in helping to raise the kids.
Joan loved gardening, children, and strong coffee. Really, *really* strong coffee. But what she loved foundationally in her life was the opportunity to make new friends, and make people's lives better, regardless of who they were or whether they had something to offer in return. Joan's kind heart and generous spirit touched everyone she met.
Joan's husband Matt is organizing a memorial on Saturday, August 29, 2026 and asks that family and friends with fond memories, stories or keepsakes to feel free to attend and share.
Joan is survived by her seven brothers and sisters; her son, Adam and her husband, Matt.
