Joanne Marie Zigman

She was born in Berwyn, Illinois on April 18, 1938. She attended and graduated from Morton High School. She worked at Western Electric in Chicago and A.C.T. College Testing in Iowa City, Iowa.

Joanne's favorite hobbies were cooking and baking. She loved to experiment and try new things. She won numerous ribbons for baking at the Minnesota State Fair. She was an avid traveler and a lover of animals. She raised three terriors: Sam, Maple and Foxie.

She enjoyed playing slot machines, bingo, trivial pursuit, pacman and angry birds. Her greatest joy was being the mother to many children in El Salvador through Minnesota Friends of the Orphans and Nuestro Pequenos Hermanos.

Joanne was married to Ron, who passed away in 2018. They were married 54 years. She also had a very devoted and loving son, Alvin Jr. "J.R."

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to NPH USA (Nuestros Pequenos Hermanos, Our Little Brothers and Sisters, a mission of nine homes caring for abused and orphaned children in Latin America and the Caribbean), 1400 Van Buren Street NE #210 Minneapolis, Minnesota 55413.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, May 9, 2025 at 11:00 AM with visitation one hour prior to service, from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, 8260 4th St. N., Oakdale, MN 55128. Interment Guardian Angels Church Cemetery. A luncheon will immediately follow the interment at church.
