My Condolences to the Family of John J. Martin

I served with John in Vietnam in 1967 during his Second Tour.  John was a Special Person - great friend and very hard to say "No" to John when he had a good idea.  When John got home after his Fourth Tour, we (Pat Garrity, Joe Napp and John Martin)  have stayed in touch for at least 56 years.  I have only good and positive memories about John

I am sure he is with Our Lord in Heaven looking down on us.  I hope the Joy of Heaven is really great because he can not use his phrase "That Really Pisses Me Off' when up in Heaven.

When I hear the name John Martin, two thoughts hit me. One, he was always fun to be around --- great times with lots of laughs.  Two, he was focused on making others happy.  From magic shows for kids to supporting various veteran groups, he cared for others.  Yes, I'm going to miss John, but I feel very blessed to have known him.

God bless my room mate during TET OF 1968 .

John was our neighbor and friend.  He will be missed greatly.  He always had a story or a joke to tell, some clean others not so much.  We always views John as a war hero having earned multiple Purple Hearts and other honors.  John was the best neighbor anybody could ask for, always willing to help or lend a hand.  RIP John.

I met John on my first days after I arrived in 1968 at the USAF club in Saigon.  John had a jeep and he realised that I had no way of getting back to BOQ.  He gave me a lift, and drove like a NASCAR driver through  streets like the INDY 500.  I did not know then that he was  such a great soldier.  It was so important to me that he called me when he started the Team 162  organization.  It was Saigon all over again.  It has been along journey that we enjoyed at reunions together.  Now it is time for our last reunion. As an old soldier of 90 years,  forgive me if I weep at your departure.
God, it was fun.

We are very sorry to hear about John's passing.  We worked with him on the Vietnamese Airborne Reunion in Colorado Springs several years ago and thought very highly of him. May he rest in peace.

John, may you RIP, you have already done your fighting, let GOD take care of you now,

A slow hand salute to an American warrior who served four tours in Vietnam as a young paratrooper. John was the long time treasurer of our veterans’ organization The Society of Vietnamese Airborne Division. A fine  man who will be missed by many.
