He was born on April 21, 1940, in Cincinnati, Ohio to Harry Christopher Radel and Lillian Kase Radel.
Ken spent his early years immersed in family life at Radel’s Grocery, where his family lived above the shop. As a child, he could often be found roaming the aisles, taking in the rhythms of the store and the community it served; an experience that helped shape his steady, observant, and personable nature.
He went on to build a successful career in sales in the printing industry. Ken spent most of his adult life in Naperville, Illinois. He later spent ten years in Richmond, Texas, before moving to Woodbury, Minnesota in 2025.
Ken is survived by his beloved wife, Arlene Radel; his daughter, Lisa Rillie, and her husband, Jim; his stepson, Jeff Burt, and his wife, Anne; and his brother, Kert Radel and sister-in-law, Tammy. He was a proud and devoted grandfather to Matt, Brent, Jenna, Ryan, Kaeleigh, Kilian, and Monika.
A lifelong lover of reading, Ken had a particular passion for World War II history. He was also a collector at heart, finding joy in gathering and caring for a wide array of items over the years, including model cars, tools, instruments, and cameras. His curiosity and appreciation for detail were evident in all he did.
Ken was a devoted animal lover who cherished the companionship of many beloved pets, including Mortie, Chloe, Mitchie, Sunny, Ben, and Annie.
He found happiness in life’s simple routines, especially sharing meals and building connections. He was a familiar and friendly face at Whataburger during his years in Texas and at Portillo’s while living in Illinois, where he was known to strike up conversations and form easy connections with those around him.
Known for his warm sense of humor, Ken was always ready with a joke or a playful comment. He had a way of making others feel comfortable and valued, leaving a lasting impression through both his kindness and his wit.
Ken will be remembered for his steady presence, his deep love for his family, and the quiet, meaningful ways he enriched the lives of those around him. His legacy lives on in the memories shared and the love he gave so freely.
