Preceded in death by wife, Thelma; brothers Roy, Wally and Howard; sisters Irene and Alice; and son-in-law David Svihel.
Survived by sister Jan Mader; children Shari Svihel, David (Lisa) and Jeff; and grandsons Joshua and Christopher.
Larry grew up on the “west side” of St. Paul and graduated from Humboldt. He married the love of his life, Thelma, in 1959 and bought their home in 1960 where he lived the rest of his life.
He was a certified welder, working at Torit MFG in St. Paul for many years. He always had a love for music and learned to play the concertina and harmonica. He would bring them to many family gatherings over the years. He loved to play them with his brothers and sister from polkas to gospel music.
Larry loved taking his sons fishing, especially at the resort near Brainerd where we went to each year. He enjoyed planting a vegetable garden every year. They would have fresh veggies all summer long and canned them to eat all winter too. He would always have plenty of extras to share with all the neighbors.
Larry had a very kind heart and was always willing to help anyone out when in need.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Memorials to Union Gospel Mission.
