Born on June 21, 1943, in Superior, Wisconsin, Larry was the cherished son of the late Clara and Kenneth Magneson. He grew up with a strong work ethic and a gentle spirit, and qualities that stayed with him throughout his life.
For 42 years, Larry devoted himself to the Great Northern Railroad, later part of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF Railway). His commitment ran deep, and he valued both the work he did and the lifelong friendships he formed.
Larry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife, Karen Magneson, of Cottage Grove, Minnesota; his daughter Yvonne Cheslog (Darin) of San Antonio, Texas; and his son Terry Magneson (Dana) of Jackson, Tennessee. Larry’s family will carry his memory with them always, holding him forever in their hearts. We love you!!
Larry’s legacy lives on in his grandchildren—Christopher and Patrick Magneson, and Zachary and Tyler Cheslog—and in his great grandchildren, who brought him endless joy: Zoey and Mathew Magneson, Marissa and Riley Magneson, and Maizee Cheslog. His family was the heart of his world, and he treasured every moment spent with them.
In honor of Larry’s generous and caring nature, the family asks that memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or that a tree be planted in his name—a living tribute to a life rooted in kindness.
A Celebration of Life will be held on August 14, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Wulff Funeral Home, 2195 Woodlane Drive, Woodbury, Minnesota. Family and friends are warmly invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate the wonderful life Larry lived.
