Passed away peacefully at his residence on March 2, 2012. WWII US Army Veteran & lifetime DAV member. Enjoyed wood carving, fly tying, and gardening. “There was never a project he didn’t like.” Special thanks to the caring staff of Boutwells Landing. Survived by his wife of 64 years, Laura; 6 children: Gary (Salie) of Owatonna, Laura (Fred) Nakanishi of Atlanta, Alan (Susan) of St. Paul, Lew “L.G.” (Diane) of Lake Elmo, Jo Ann (Mark) Gleason of Racine WI, James (Kim) of St. Cloud; 15 grandchildren: Joe, Paul, Peter, Jamey, Lisa, Lucas, Brian, Samuel, Matthew, Tracy, Laura, Anthony, Audrey, Michael, Charlie; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers & 3 sisters; nieces, nephews, extended family & friends. Preceded in death by parents, Alphonse & Anna; brother, Joe; and grandson, Tommy Nakanishi. Mass of Christian Burial: 11 AM Wed, Mar 7 at St. Ambrose of Woodbury Catholic Church, 4125 Woodbury Dr. Visitation 1 hr prior. Interment at Ft. Snelling.
