Mark Neidt, aged 71, passed away on January 17, 2024, during his recovery from neck surgery. A proud graduate of Waseca High School in 1970, he furthered his education, earning a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota. Mark dedicated nearly 40 years to the CNW, Soo Line, and Canadian Pacific railroad, contributing his expertise to safety and operations before retiring.
Mark was quick with a smile, long with a story, and always ready to lend a hand however needed. Everything in his life, he did to excess: squirreling away treats, saving every scrap of paper and box, and, most of all, loving his family and friends beyond measure. He was, in a word, unforgettable.
An avid sports lover, Mark was a long-time coach and longer-suffering Minnesota sports fan. His greatest joys included spending time with his dogs, retreating to his hunting shack, and savoring a Manhattan. Above all, he was happiest cheering for his grandsons in their sports.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie Neidt, their daughter, Kelly Lombardi (Brian), son, Jeff Neidt (Kerri), five grandsons Gavin, Owen, Ryland, Ian, and Sullivan, and beloved dog, Cooper. He is also survived by nieces, cousins, and an entire generation of former players who are now coaches and fathers themselves. He was preceded in death by his parents Norman and Lois, brother Steve, and several dogs he loved dearly.
Services to celebrate Mark's life will be held at Wulff Funeral Home in Woodbury. His kids invite you to write down and bring your favorite memory of time spent with Mark, so they can have a living record of the joy he brought others. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Retrieve a Golden of the Midwest (RAGOM). Or just spend a moment doing something nice for someone you love. He’d like that most of all.
