Martin Michael Denk, age 95, of Woodbury, MN, died November 22, 2021.

Marty was born in Saint Paul, MN on June 13th, 1926. He attended Cretin High School, graduated in 1944 and was drafted by the United States Army at the age of 18, where served as a stenographer in Austria and Germany. He was a veteran of WWII serving in Headquarters of the 260th Engineer Combat Battalion in General George Patton's 3rd Army and General A.M. Patch's 7th Army in France, Germany and Austria. Retired Administrative Officer, St. Paul Division, Postal Inspection Service.

Marty worked for the United State Post Office Inspection Service and retired at the age of 55. He took pride in his own self-sufficiency and was even caught up on the roof of the cabin he owned as recently as 2020. He was a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who never missed a birthday, sporting event, or band concert.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Elizabeth Denk and cherished daughter, Mary Jo Anastasi.

Marty is survived by his beloved and faithful wife of 67 years, Reva (nee Barry); children, Catherine (Craig) Svendsen, Robert (Vanessa) Denk, Patricia (Michael) Joyce; son-in-law Steven Anastasi; grandchildren, Rebecca (Daniel) Baltzer, Emily (Todd) Lachinski, Matthew (Amanda) Svendsen, Douglas (Brittany) Svendsen, Michael (Jennifer) Svendsen, Reiva Denk, Caitlin (Andrew) Wold, Margaret (Kai) Ludwig, Martin Joyce, Caroline Joyce, Ellen Joyce, Kevin Joyce, Julia Anastasi, Nicholas Anastasi, Maria Anastasi and 20 great-grandchildren.

At the family's request, a Mass of Christian Burial with Interment at Fort Snelling will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Church of the Blessed Sacrament.

Services

  • Private Family Services are being held at Church of the Blessed Sacrament and Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
