Marty attended South St. Paul High School (class of 72) and later graduated from Augsburg College with a degree in Business Administration-Finance. He had a successful career as a mortgage broker, eventually becoming President of his own company.
Marty was a high school and collegiate wrestler. He was actively involved and supported: Union Gospel Mission, Woodbury youth sports, the South St Paul Foundation, Southview Country Club, and Shriners. He attended church at First Presbyterian in South St Paul and The Grove in Woodbury.
He was an avid golfer. He most enjoyed traveling, boating, spending time with family, and cheering on his favorite MN professional sports teams. Marty and Sharon split the year between homes in Minnesota, Indiana, and Florida.
Marty was preceded in death by his parents, James and Delores (Lola) Lindell; sister, Lynda Voge and brother-in-law, Kent Voge.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon; children, Stefanie (Bruce) Lender, Leslie (Chris) Klay, and James (Karri) Lindell; stepchildren, Jeramy (Stacy) Gibson and Kim Gibson; grandchildren, Kylie, Cole, Lexi, Sam, Caden, Cooper, Jimmy, and Ava; brothers, Jim (Laurie) Lindell and Jerry (Toni) Lindell; stepbrother, Grant (Sue) Tigwell; stepsister, Victoria Tigwell and many other loving relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Marty’s Life will be held on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at the Grove (United Methodist) Church in Woodbury, MN. Visitation will be from 10:00 - 11:00 am with services at 11 am. Following the service, interment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in St. Paul.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Marty’s memory may be directed to the American Heart Association or Union Gospel Mission - Twin Cities.
