Merle A. (Kealy) Brent

Merle is preceded in death by 5 sisters and 1 brother; her husband, Macy Brent Jr.; and her son, Robert.

She is survived by her children, Barb Thompson, Patti Peerboom, Cindy Hackett, Julie Anderson (Miguel Tototzintle), Macy Brent III (Jeanne), Brenda Collier (Garry), and Vickie Maus (Jeff.) Also survived by 20 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and her beloved, adorable little fur baby, Henry.

Merle was born in Saint Paul on February 17, 1932, and raised in the Rice Street neighborhood by the Garfields, a loving foster family. She attended Saint Bernard’s Catholic School and graduated from Washington High School. Merle enlisted in the Women’s Air Force in 1951. While stationed at Lackland AFB, she met and fell in love with Airman 2nd Class, Macy Brent Jr.; they were married on July 3, 1952, for 53 years. Upon discharge from the Air Force, she and Macy moved back to Minnesota and raised a family of eight children. Merle loved life, family, friends, cats, and a good laugh and it just seems fitting she left us after her favorite season was ending.

A memorial service will be held at Wulff Funeral Home, 2195 Woodlane Dr., Woodbury on November 11th at 5:00 pm, with visitation from 3:00-5:00 pm. Interment of ashes will take place at Fort Snelling in spring 2026.
