Michael Steven Gits

Michael Steven Gits, age 73, passed away January 29, 2021. He was born November 6, 1947 in St. Paul, Minnesota. Following his high school education, Michael attended the University of Minnesota with a double major in Math and Computer Science. He was retired from the city of St. Paul finance department following a long career. Michael was a loving dad and grandpa, who was young at heart and enjoyed spending time with his grandsons. He will be greatly missed and remembered by his family for his humble, kind, soft-spoken, generous and thoughtful spirit. Michael was highly intelligent and enjoyed reading and computer programming. He loved going for walks and enjoying nature. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Daisy Gits and his beloved cat Franklin. Michael is survived by his daughters Jennifer (Chris) English and Andrea Gits; grandsons: Austin English, Kyle English and Cooper Weismiller; ex wife and friend Bev Carey; siblings Larry (Kelly) Gits and Patty Merrill and niece Jordan Gits.
