Phoebe was born on February 17, 2000, in Seoul, Korea, and was welcomed into the loving arms of the McDonough family through adoption at 16 months old.
Her strength of character was evident in the way she overcame physical challenges and selective mutism while growing up. After graduating from Woodbury High School in 2018, she completed two years at Next Step Transitions in 2020. She then volunteered at Caring for Cats and worked at Paws Unleashed caring for dogs. Known for her gentle and kind spirit, Phoebe had a deep love for all animals, especially cats.
During this time, she also attended Midwest Special Services, a day program where she built meaningful friendships and blossomed both socially and in her artwork. She volunteered at the church café alongside her good friend Jade Singer, and being a godmother to Arlyn Singer was one of her greatest joys.
Phoebe will be remembered for her keen attention to detail, her remarkable memory for dates, and her uncanny ability to find lost items for her family. Most of all, she will be dearly missed for her unique personality and beautiful smile. She found joy in all things pink, Disney movies, Pokémon, butterflies, collecting shells on the beach, and caring for her beloved cat, Millie.
Though quiet, Phoebe was also spunky. Those who knew her saw her live out her faith, reflecting Colossians 3:12 beloved child of God, compassionate, with kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.
Phoebe is survived by her parents, Steve (Carrie) McDonough; and her siblings, Max (33), Helen (29), Quinton (25), Nolan (22), Bronte (21), and stepbrother, David (35); loving grandparents, Bill and Charlotte.
