

Passed away peacefully into our Lord’s loving arms on Nov 18, 2011 at the age of 92. Rachel was a resident of Woodbury Health Care center, and formerly a longtime resident of the eastside of St. Paul. She and her twin brother, Raymond, were the last of the children born to William C. and Myrtle L. (Connors) Pittman on June 15, 1919 in Clear Lake, WI. Rachel was very proud that she and Raymond graduated high school at the age of 16. She went on to attend business school. Most of her working years were spent with the State of Minnesota Dept of Natural Resources, from which she retired. Rachel had been a longtime member of Eastern Heights Lutheran Church of St. Paul. She loved flowers and enjoyed collecting items with a cardinal or angel theme. Rachel was preceded in death by husband Albin; brothers, Howard & Vernon; sisters, Florence, Winnifred, Evelyn & Helen; and grandson-in-law, Mark Espeseth. She is survived by her sons, Gary (Marye) Hanson and Gregg Hanson; daughter, Karen (Richard) Jackson; seven grandchildren: Brenda Espeseth, Mark (Carol) Hanson, Terri Harshman, Traci Hanson, Aimee (Chuck) Nalley, Andrea (Steve) Tennant, and Ambre (Rick) Schabo; 16 great-grandchildren: Cassie (David) Marc, Cristin & Caitlin Espeseth, Cari & Laura Hanson, Savannah, Breanna & Adrianna Figueroa, Jackson, Brooke & Clay Nalley, Alexa & Alivia Tennant, Ridge, Ayva & Stella Schabo; and a great-great-grandson, Ephram Marc. She is further survived by her twin brother, Raymond Pittman; sister, Jessie Nilssen; daughter-in-law, Judie Hanson; nieces, nephews, and extended family. The family sincerely thanks the staff at Woodbury Health Care Center for their loving care and kindness. A Funeral Service will be held to celebrate Rachel’s life at 11:00 AM, with visitation one hour prior, on Tuesday, November 22nd at Eastern Heights Lutheran Church of St. Paul. Interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Services have been entrusted to the Wulff Woodbury Funeral Home, 651-738-9615.
