Passed away surrounded by family on Wednesday, April 18, 2018. Rufus will be deeply missed by his Loving Wife of 59 years, Jean; Sons, Daniel (Heidi) and David (Erica); Grandchildren, Hannah, Wesley, and Meghan; Siblings, Bill (Mary Lou), Sara Jane (Gordon) Minehart, Judy (Dennis) Dailey, and Barry (Brenda); Mother-In-Law, Evelyn Garbe; Brother-In-Law, Art Warnke; Nieces, Nephews, other Family and Friends. His Sister, Joan Warnke, preceded him in death.
Raised on a farm in Woodbury, Rufus maintained a life-long interest in farming and gardening. He worked as an engineer at Honeywell prior to being an executive at two electronic representative firms based out of the Twin Cities. He was active in the Woodbury United Methodist Church, 4-H, Habitat for Humanity, the Woodbury Lions Club (President, 1991-92), and multiple other volunteer organizations. Rufus enjoyed supporting family members competing in sports, fishing, hunting big game as well as birds with the family dogs, motorhome camping, and international travel.
Funeral Service will be Tuesday, April 24 at 11:00 AM with Visitation One Hour Prior at Woodbury United Methodist Church, 7465 Steepleview Road, Woodbury. Interment at Woodbury United Methodist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Parkinson’s or cardiovascular disease research at the Mayo Clinic.
